A refined blend of tradition and nature, this Tokoname-yaki teapot is crafted using rare Ryokudei (green clay) and finished with a unique seaweed-effect glaze, offering both aesthetic beauty and exceptional function for tea enthusiasts.
✦ About Ryokudei (Green Clay)
Unlike the more commonly known red clay (Shudei) of Tokoname, Ryokudei is a special green clay that contains trace amounts of cobalt oxide. When fired in an oxidizing atmosphere, it develops a subtle green to grey-green hue. This natural coloration evokes the depth and tranquility of moss-covered stone or forest shadows.
In addition to its beautiful appearance, Ryokudei retains the excellent porosity and absorbency characteristic of Tokoname clay, allowing it to gently soften water and enhance the smoothness and flavor of your tea.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind, featuring Mogake (seaweed firing technique) that creates a delicate, organic pattern—like sea mist brushing across the surface.
