Discover the rich texture of traditional Tokoname pottery with this compact kyusu teapot from Gyokko Kiln (玉光窯). Known in Japanese as 茶窯変釜形松皮急須 (Cha-yōhen Kamagata Matsukawa Kyūsu), its rounded, kettle-inspired shape features a tactile pine-bark texture (松皮 / matsukawa) and an atmospheric kiln-fired finish that ranges from deep brown to near-black.

Its distinctive surface is created through three firing stages: initial firing of red clay, a firing involving applied seaweed, and a final smoky kiln-variation finish known as 茶窯変 (cha-yōhen). A built-in ceramic mesh tea filter (セラメッシュ / ceramesh) helps hold back loose tea leaves while pouring.
