Amabie is a half-human, half-fish monster that has been passed down in the sea of Higo Province (Kumamoto Prefecture) since the Edo period (1603-1868), and is said to be beneficial in preventing plague and disease.
Yakushigama's amabie are prayed for good health at the Shioji Shrine in Nagasu-cho, Kumamoto Prefecture, which faces the Ariake Sea, famous for its [tachibakai], which is used to ward off evil spirits.

It is said that the sound of wind chimes not only carries coolness but also dispels evil spirits.
Amabie, with her cute, dull eyes, wishes you a healthy life and brings a smile to your life with the double power of the wind chime.

This adorable Wind Chime will announce your newly increased Good Fortune, as it enters your house on the breeze!

The term ‘Yakushigama’ is derived from a miniature shrine dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of medicine, which stood within the grounds of Chugai Toen until the end of the Edo Era. It was said to have been built by the Buddhist priest Gyoki.

Yakushi Nyorai is currently enshrined in Seto’s Hosenji Temple, and every year on November 8 th and 12 th , a festival is held in his honor.
The festival has become a late-autumn tradition of Seto city.
Yakushigama ceramics are said to offer Yakushi Nyorai’s divine protection to those suffering from eye conditions, while the ornaments’ eye-catching designs promote a sense of calm and enjoyment wherever they are displayed.
