Shigaraki Ware Mini Vase – Mottled Earth Block

A compact Shigaraki pottery vase with a bold, sculptural silhouette and richly textured surface.

Made in Japan, this mini vase features a low, block-like form with stepped sides and an irregularly mottled glaze in warm cream, brown, and earthy olive tones. Areas of exposed reddish clay add further depth, giving each surface a naturally weathered, tactile appearance.

The small raised opening is ideal for a single flower or restrained seasonal stem. Rather than requiring a full bouquet, this type of vessel lends itself naturally to 一輪挿し (ichirin-zashi) styling, where a minimal floral arrangement allows the form and surface of the pottery to remain part of the composition.

At approximately 3.5 inches tall, the vase has a strong visual presence despite its compact scale. Its architectural shape works especially well on a shelf, low table, entryway display, or alongside other ceramic objects, while the earthy palette pairs easily with wood, stone, linen, and other natural materials.
